Consignment Booking Guidelines & Policies
Please review the standard booking rules, packaging specifications, volumetric weight pricing methods, and transit restrictions applicable to all shipments handled by Shah Courier & Cargo.
1. Pricing Method For Light-Weight Consignments (Volumetric Weight)
Light-weight consignments occupying a large volumetric space due to physical dimensions are charged according to the standard volumetric weight calculation formulas:
1. Domestic Surface Mode:
Volumetric Weight = (Length × Breadth × Height) / 2700
Dimensions measured in centimetres (cm)
2. Domestic Air Mode:
Volumetric Weight = (Length × Breadth × Height) / 5000
Dimensions measured in centimetres (cm)
3. International Shipments:
Volumetric Weight = (Length × Breadth × Height) / 5000
Dimensions measured in centimetres (cm)
Measurement: L × B × H (in cm)
Over-Dimensional Rule: For parcels having a length of more than 110 cm in Air Mode or 180 cm in Surface Mode, the chargeable weight will be charged doubled (2x).
Heavy Cargo Regulation: A single piece of more than 100 kg cannot be booked without an added cost and prior approval from the operations department.

2. Invoice & Documentation Requirements
- 2 Copies of Declaration / Invoice: A minimum of 2 physical copies of the commercial invoice or declaration note is mandatory for booking any Parcel or Cargo consignment.
- Consignor & Consignee Details: Complete destination postal address with a valid 6-digit PIN code and direct recipient contact number must be clearly printed.
- GST Compliance: GST E-Way Bill is mandatory for inter-state commercial shipments valued above statutory thresholds.
3. Transit Insurance & Risk Coverage
Transit Insurance / Risk Surcharge is strictly required for all consignments where the material invoice value exceeds Rs. 10,000.
Shah Courier offers specialized Risk Cover to safeguard valuable corporate and commercial consignments against unforeseen transit perils.4. Restricted & Prohibited Commodities
- Dangerous / Hazardous Goods: Consignments containing liquids, chemicals, lithium-ion batteries, corrosive materials, or fragile glassware are strictly NOT accepted without prior DG declaration and operations clearance.
- Valuable Goods Policy: Shah Courier is not responsible for currency cash, bearer cheques, bullion, jewellery, or original passports placed inside regular courier parcels.
